Police: 3 arrested for shooting man for money

WALDORF, Md. (WUSA9) -- Charles County authorities arrested three suspects in connection to a shooting incident on Falcon Place in Waldorf on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened on May 7 around 6:20 a.m. at the 4100 block of Falcon Place. Two masked men approached a 31-year-old man who was walking out of his apartment building with his family. The suspects showed a gun, forced the victim and his family back inside where they held them at gunpoint and demanded money, police said.

Around 8:00 a.m., the victim was shot multiple times in the arm and leg after an argument. The suspects ran away after stealing numerous items, police said.

An officer was able to spot the suspects driving in a Chevy Tahoe on route 228. When he tried to stop them, the driver ran away. He then lost control of his car and hit a guardrail on Route 210. The driver and a passenger jumped out of the SUV and fled in different directions. A third suspect stayed in the car and was arrested, police said.

An officer and his K9 partner, Ryker were able to follow one of the suspects and arrest him. The officer also found a gun in the suspects pocket. The third suspect was found hiding in a children's play set in the backyard of a house, police said.

All three suspects aged 15,19 and 30 will be charged with 'attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, kidnapping, burglary, theft and other charges'.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was admitted with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police believe the suspects knew the victim and targeted him because they believe he had money. The investigation is continuing.
