Little River Turnpike in Annandale has reopened after a violent head-on crash that claimed one life and seriously injured a police officer. Fairfax County Police officers spoke with a man outside a home after a domestic call, and allowed him to leave. But as he drove away the officers saw him commit several traffic violations and decided to follow him. They saw him head the wrong way on Route 236 (Little River Turnpike) at a high rate of speed. Officers saw several near collisions as the suspect drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of Little River Turnpike, says Caldwell. It ended when he hit a police cruiser head-on.
