CIA Director David Petraeus has resigned from his post citing an extramarital affair. In a letter to CIA personnel, Petraeus said he met with President Obama on Thursday and asked to resign because of personal reasons. Friday, Obama accepted his resignation, Petraeus said. "Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position as D/CIA," Petraeus wrote. "After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours. This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation." Obama praised Petraeus in a statement this afternoon, and said Michael Morell, Petraeus' deputy, will step in as acting director.(Photos by Getty Images)
