HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - A bedroom in a Hyattsville home is half-painted green. Icianie Fils-Aime's daughter, Julia, will never complete the decorating project or her dreams.

"My daughter, she was a lovely girl and she's active, outgoing, and she graduate Northwestern University. I don't know why somebody want to kill her so soon, so quick...," said Fils-Aime.

The mother of seven's 21-year-old daughter was shot to death around 8:45 Wednesday night. Prince George's County police say two suspects approached the victim and a male companion as they walked on a footpath in Chillum Park.

The 21-year-old man was seriously wounded. He told authorities the men robbed them and then started shooting. Police say Fils-Aime and her friend were shot several times as they tried to get away.

"It's very cold," says the victim's mother. "You take your chance, you give her one and you think that's not enough and you give her two. And the third time you kill her,...and she's bleeding to death."

Family and friends hugged and tried to comfort each other outside Julia's home. They say she planned to go into the Job Corps soon to become a nurse.

"I'm waiting for the wedding, waiting for her to go through college, but it just end so quickly," said her mother.

Loved ones say they hope justice will make life safer for other families. Police are offering a $25,000 reward for tips that help solve the case.

"My sister, I know she didn't intend to get robbed or nothing. She was just out there to...relax, so anybody can get kilt at anytime," said Wells Fils-Aime."

His mother added, "I hope they catch that person who do that to Julia...and I hope he realize what he is doing is evil."

Anyone with information about the murder should contact Prince George's County Police Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
