CLINTON, Md. (WUSA) -- Fifty-one year old Michael Morris of Clinton, who loved cooking and kids, died trying to help a female neighbor. It was 7:30 Tuesday night on Bellefonte Lane in Clinton. Two neighbors, a man and a woman, were fighting. Morris stepped in but then became the victim of the attack. Police came and carted one suspect away.

End of story? Not quite. The wife of the jailed man then called some friends for the ultimate retaliation. They shot Morris right in front of the apartment building, and right in front of dozens of people, most of them children.

Morris was shot in the head and died soon after in the hospital.

"He was the Michael Jordan of the neighborhood, he was the mentor. Everyone looked up to that dude," said Dee Marshall, a neighbor.

Morris worked in the commissary at Andrews Air Force Base. Prince George's County Police are still searching for the killer and have a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads them to an arrest.
