(WUSA) -- The magic is coming to an end for Harry Potter fans as the final edition rolls into bookstores Saturday.
Author JK Rowling is hinting that one of the characters could die in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
Child Psychiatrist Michael Brody says parents should prepare now to help their kids deal with the loss of a beloved character.
"Don't make fun of the child for feeling sad about the death of a fictional character," he says. "They're real to the kids, and you have to take it seriously." Brody says make sure your comments about death are age appropriate. Keep in mind most kids under six don't understand that death is permanent.
"Never tell a child death is liking going to sleep." Dr Brody cautions. "You'll never get your kids to sleep after that."
Like all good works of art, Dr. Brody says the Harry Potter series has given parents the forum to address a number of important issues. "Good vs. Evil, loyalty, trust. Harry Potter had it all."
