
(WUSA)-- A house fire in Springfield today sent two people to the hospital and damage caused by the fire will displace three other occupants of the home.
Fairfax county fire/rescue were called at about 12:30 p.m., to a reported structure fire at 8248 Rushing Creek Court. Units arrived found a single family dwelling, and reported that fire was visible from the front of the structure on all three levels of the home.
The fire did signifcant damage to the home, and three adults and two children are displaced as a result of the fire.
Preliminarily the fire began in a bedroom of the home. Two people who were home at the time were taken to Washington Hospital Center's Medstar unit. A 42 year-old woman was transported by helicopter, complaining of smoke inhalation, as well as a 17 year-old female who was taken to the hospital by ground, for evaluation.
Raul Castillo, spokesman for Fairfax county Fire/rescue says the fire was under control within about 15 minutes.
Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire and the estimated damages caused by the fire.
