Smokers, today is your last chance to light up in bars and restaurants in the District.
2007 brings a new law that makes most public places smoke- free. In addition to bars and restaurants, all indoor workplaces will all become no-smoking zones.
The smoke- free law takes full effect Tuesday, January 2.
Washington DC's other new law has to do with making rights turns on District streets.
You will no longer be able to make a right turn at an intersection in front of a bus that's stopped to pick-up or drop- off passengers.
If you get caught - you could be slapped with a $100 fine.
That new law goes into effect Monday, January 1.
