(WUSA)- Several presents for needy kids in Northern Virginia are now in the hands of two criminals.
On Monday night, thieves stole clothing and toys from the car of a church volunteer shopping for the children of female prison inmates and recently released offenders.
The volunteer is with the ?Angel Tree? program, recently taken over by New Vision ministries in the Fredericksburg area. The victim was in the store about 9:30 p.m. when it was announced over the intercom that a car in the parking lot had one of its doors open. The volunteer went outside to check his car and saw a black SUV that had been parked beside him racing away. They ran over one of the Christmas presents as they fled.
Among the items stolen were GI Joe action figures, toy cars and trucks, clothes and a football. All of the presents were wrapped had ?Angel Tree? tags on them.
