ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) _ Police say an off-duty Secret Service agent was among three people shot during a melee at the Westfield Annapolis mall.
The agent was shot Saturday night after he intervened in a fight in the food court of the mall. He returned fire with his service weapon, wounding the shooter.
The agent and the shooter were airlifted to Shock Trauma. Anne Arundel County police say their injuries weren't life-threatening.
Police spokeswoman Officer Sara Schriver says the agent noticed a group of men attacking another man and tried to break it up.
She says someone in the group drew a weapon and started shooting. After the agent was shot, he drew his service handgun and returned fire, hitting the shooter.
It's not clear who fired the shot that hit the third victim.
