
CHANTILLY, Va. - Air travelers have been adjusting their packing methods and arrival schedules today to avoid the long delays caused by stepped up security in northern Virginia's biggest airports.
By midmorning at Dulles International Airport, passengers who arrived several hours early for their flight found the precaution unnecessary, as security lines were minimal.
At Reagan National in Arlington, many people opted to check their bags and removed any fluids or other banned materials from their carry-on luggage.
The flow through security at Reagan National was similar to that on an average day. That's according to Rob Yingling, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which oversees the airport.
Transportation Security Administration inspectors have tightened security even more today as travelers bound for Britain face a second round of inspections before they can board outgoing flights.
