Scott Peterson's family on Friday offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the murder of his pregnant wife.

Peterson was convicted of killing Laci Peterson and the couple's unborn child on Christmas Eve 2002 and is on death row at San Quentin State Prison.

During his trial, prosecutors said Peterson was motivated by a desire to escape marriage and his impending fatherhood. He was having an extramarital affair when his wife disappeared.

But he has always maintained his innocence, and has appealed his conviction and death sentence.

His family is offering the reward for "specific information leading to an arrest and conviction for the abduction and murder of Laci and Conner Peterson, or for specific information leading to the exoneration and release of Scott Peterson," according to a press release.

"All of us remain deeply committed to Scott's innocence and to finding Laci's real killer," Lee Peterson, Scott Peterson's father, said in the statement.

The family has offered rewards before _ for Laci Peterson's safe return and later for her body. Laci Peterson's body and the tiny corpse of her unborn son were found on the shore of San Francisco Bay months after she disappeared.
