Did you go to church this weekend? Too busy you say ... with work, family obligations, that all too painful Redskins game?
Don?t fear, as Derek McGinty shows us, now you can get wired for worship through "Godcasting." Like a lot of us, Chad Hayward is always on the run. And going to church -- well, isn't always possible. But Chad never misses a sermon. He's wired for worship. These are the offices of Chad's place of worship: the National Community Church in DC. And what they do is Godcasting. A cyber-sermon if you will.
Says Rev. Mark Batterson, "Every week we'll take our Sunday morning message, upload it to an mp3 file, so that anyone with an Ipod can download that podcast." Rev. Batterson is NCC's preacher. He's been podcasting since July. And in a few weeks he'll add video. Batterson has a young congregation. About 80 percent of them are 20-somethings. He packs them in on their own turf--like at a movie theater in Union Station.
He says Godcasting is the printing press of the 21st century. But critics worry about a digital discipleship.
