Some people in Logan Circle have taken a new approach to fighting crime by logging on!

In DC's Third District, comparing September this year to the same month last year, the murder rate has increased 50%. Robberies and assaults are also up.

Today, more and more people are plugging in, proving that blogging is the new way to check the pulse of life in DC's Logan Circle community. The owner of Candida's World Books considers communication between people in the neighborhood vital, especially about crime.

Candida Mannozzi hasn't logged on to the blog site, created by Chris Kohatsu yet. She does keep in touch, however, with other business owners by email after getting robbed last month. And Kohatsu says police and city officials are paying attention to the blog reports of crime victims and witnesses.
