
It?s the college education about the birds and the bees that has lawmakers buzzing. George Mason University hosted a health fair for hundreds of students called, "Sex-travaganza" The topic was sex-education but the controversial named attracted heavy opposition from a group of conservative northern Virginia lawmakers.
The so-called Sextravaganza was sponsored by a group called Pro-choice Patriots. It was the first fair of its kind in school history. Fifteen groups signed on. Some taught safe sex, others taught abstinence.
But Delegate Richard Black is the many Northern Virginia Republicans who questioned the event, in a letter to George Mason University's President.
But a University spokesperson says no parents have complained to her.
The event was free to students but organizers say they spent about $375 of student funds to pay for advertising.
