DC police say charges are pending against the woman who crashed into a parked fire truck Sunday night in Southeast. Authorities say 31-year-old Tandra Vaughn was traveling west just after 8 o'clock when her Nissan Altima crashed into the truck, which had its lights on. Ten other people were in the car all of them children. A two-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition. None of the other passengers appears to have life-threatening injuries. Police haven't said how fast the Nissan was traveling when it hit the fire truck. There's also no word on whether the driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. DC Fire and EMS plans to start having monthly opportunities for parents to let safety experts install child seats in their cars. The first will be April 16th at Engine 24, which is at 5101 Georgia Avenue, Northwest. All kids under eight must be in safety seats under DC law. Copyright 2005 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
