Life plus 20-years is the sentence for the man who shot and paralyzed a Montgomery County police officer.
A judge also ordered mental health treatment for Terrence Green, who showed no emotion as his sentence was read in court late Thursday morning. A half-dozen uniformed county police officers looked on, as did Green's victim, Kyle Olinger, who also showed little emotion as he sat in his wheelchair.
Before the sentence was announced, State's Attorney Doug Gansler branded Green a "cold-blooded, brazen would-be cop killer." Gansler told the court that Olinger has told him he wishes he'd died that night in August of 2003 when Green shot him in the neck.
Green's mother told the judge her son is a "loving and caring" person, and that the shooting was "triggered by an adrenaline-induced impulse." Copyright 2005 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
