Americans are reaching out to help in unique and generous ways.
Peggy Fox takes us to Ashburn, Virginia where Texas Barbeque is on the menu and a huge donation is in the works.
Peggy Fox's Report
It's a mound of freshly pulled barbecue chicken with sauce included in a vacuum packed bag. It's not cheap, but the businessman selling it won't make a dime on it this month, nor next.
Blake Barker is the owner of the Texacan Beef and Pork Company in Ashburn, Virginia. He says he decided in an instant on what he needed to do to help the tsunami victims, while he was on recent trip to Hawaii.
"I was out on the verandi, looking down at the beach. I saw the surfers and then looked over at the TV. Everything was devastated by the flood", recalls Blake. That's when he decided to donate all of his sales for two straight months to help the tsunami victims.
"Hey, I've got a lot, I can help someone else", says Blake.
In the store, Blake sells everything from barbeque, sandwiches, packaged meat, ribs, and various sauces.
Blake believes his effort will pull in $50,000.
He's designating all of it to the Red Cross, and he's already getting some extra business.
Customer Sandra Smeding says she's coming in, after reading about it in the paper.
Blake is hoping to encourage other businesses to follow suit.
"We all should do what we can", he says.
