The grinch couldn't steal this Christmas away from needy children in the District.

The Salvation Army says donations have been pouring in to replace the hundreds of toys stolen last month from a site where it stores toys in Northwest. After word of the theft got out, a toy company called "Klassic Kars 4 Kids" donated five-thousand remote-controlled Hummers. Hummer dealers kicked in five-thousand dollars in cash and the Massanutten resort contributed four thousand batteries.

The Salvation Army says all seven thousand children whose families applied for Christmas assistance will receive toys.

Toyland, the place where needy families pick up the toys is now open for business.
