The nation's leading driving safety experts joined forces Thursday, hosting a town hall meeting to address the issue of teen driving safety.

The meeting took place at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda.

Among the issues raised, the panelists discussed the risks teens face as new and inexperienced drivers. They also offered guidelines for parents and teens to help keep young people safe behind the wheel.

Traffic crashes are the number one killer of teens. The Washington DC area has suffered a recent series of crashes involving young drivers.

17-teens in the area have died since September. In Montgomery County alone, 10-people have died in 8 collisions.
