It's the hot new trend blowing through the District. When the owners bought these buildings they were vacant and rundown apartments, dumps that had been on the market for a year.
Lofts are popping up in the district, and are fetching price tags from $500,000 to $1.5 Million.
The climate changed in the late 90?s with young people flocking to the district from New York and Chicago. The young people wanted bigger volume, open spaces, and exposed beams so the binge began.
If you are fascinated with lofts and would like to know more there is a website dedicated solely to lofts in the DC area. It is www.dclofts.com or you can click on the link under ?related links?. Click on "Play Video" to see Mike Walter's full report.
