LAKE CITY, Fla. – Lake City Police have arrested a man for reportedly shooting at his neighbors over a children's water fight.
Police arrested 30-year-old Eldredge Henderson Saturday evening at Windsong Apartments.
Neighbors said they were talking when Henderson approached the group and started shooting.
One woman was shot in both legs and transported to a Gainesville hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Several cars were also hit by gunfire.
When officer arrived on scene, neighbors identified Henderson as the shooter and said they saw him run into one of the apartment buildings, according to Lake City Police.
He was arrested after a standoff with officers.
LCPD said Henderson made statements to witnesses about just shooting someone, and he threw the gun into a storm drain of a retention pond.
Investigators recovered a Tec-9 semi-automatic 9mm handgun at that location.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a water fight children within the complex had on April 29th.
Witnesses told investigators Henderson was angry after his kids accidentally got wet.
They said he became irate and tried to fight several adults.
Henderson was told the leave, but he returned later with a gun and began waving it around until neighbors called police.
Police did not find a gun at that time.
No arrests were made due to the victim asking police not to file charges.
Henderson is in the Columbia County Detention Center on no bond.
He has been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, firing weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
