Ga.'s Kennesaw State warns of gunman report

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - Kennesaw State University in Georgia has posted an emergency alert on its website saying there is possibly an armed man on campus.

University spokeswoman Tammy DeMel says in an email that officials received a call Friday afternoon about a suspicious man on campus with a possible weapon.

DeMel says police are searching the campus but have not located anyone. The campus, located about 30 miles north of Atlanta, was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Live video from the WSB-TV helicopter showed multiple police walking around campus and barricades blocking some roads.

Located in the fast-growing suburbs north of Atlanta, Kennesaw State is the third-largest public university in the state and has more than 21,000 traditional and non-traditional students.
