Dead body falls out of coroner's van

A dead body on a gurney fell out of a coroner's van and landed in the middle of a road Friday in Feasterville, Pa.

The Bucks County Coroner's Office said a "mechanical malfunction with a rear door" caused the gurney to fall, reports the Bucks County Courier Times.

"Just when I thought I've seen everything," Jerry Bradley wrote on the captioned photo he posted to Facebook on July 11. "That's a dead body on a stretcher that launched out of the back of a coroner's vehicle in Feasterville."

The driver of the vehicle returned quickly to retrieve the corpse and gurney, according to the Coroner's Office.

"Care was taken to respect the deceased individual in this instance. The Bucks County Coroner's Office deeply regrets this incident and will take steps to ensure that it is not repeated," the coroner's statement said, according to the Courier Times.

Bradley said he helped the driver get the stretcher out of the street. "Still hard to figure out why I was the only one who stopped," Bradley said on his Facebook page comments.
