    • WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Cardinals from around the world are holding mass at St. Peter's Basilica before starting the election to choose a successor to retired Pope Benedict XVI.

    The conclave is scheduled to begin at 11:45  a.m.

    WUSA 9's Bruce Johnson is at the Vatican tracking the developments.
