CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS 19) -- George Huguely is being sued by American International Group Inc. (AIG) for his refusal to answer questions from insurance investigators about the death of his ex-girlfriend, Yeardley Love.
In a court filing Monday, the company says Huguely declined requests for questioning under oath.
The company wants to be released from defending Huguely of paying damages in a wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the family of slain UVa student Yeardley Love.
AIG filed suit in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland. They say Huguely's refusal to cooperate constitutes a breach of contract under his family's homeowners' policy.
Huguely was convicted in 2010 of second-degree murder of Yeardley Love. He is serving a 23-year prison sentence. The Virginia Court of Appeals has agreed to hear Huguely's appeal.
