BEL AIR, Md. (AP) - A Joppa man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a DUI crash that injured a woman so severely that she had to have her legs amputated.

Twenty-eight-year-old Herman Ziemann pleaded guilty on Monday to driving under the influence of controlled dangerous substances causing life-threatening injury. A Harford County Circuit judge sentenced Ziemann to prison, fines and 1,000 hours of community service.

Prosecutors say Ziemann was under the influence of methadone and cocaine when he crashed into a car on Interstate 95 on June 28, 2011.

Ziemann's car crossed three lanes and hit another vehicle. A woman in that vehicle, Rebecca Walsh, had to have her legs amputated just below the knees after the crash.
