Leisure World Robbery Suspect
SILVER SPRING Md. (WUSA) -- Montgomery County Police have released videos from the robbery at the Leisure World Shopping Center in Silver Spring, Md., and are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.
The story goes back to November 21, when the Montgomery County Police department responded to the Aspen Hill Shopping Center for a report of an armed robbery at approximately 8:42 p.m., police said.
Police say that a 20-year-old male victim had been sitting in his vehicle in the Leisure World shopping center when he was approached by a suspect who asked for directions to the Glenmont Metro Station. The suspect then pulled a black handgun on the victim and got into his car. Police say the suspect forced the victim to drive around to several ATM's in the Aspen Hill area in an attempt to withdraw money.
After the suspect couldn't withdraw any money from the several banks they drove to, the suspect had the victim park in the Aspen Hill shopping center parking lot, took his credit card, iPhone, and vehicle keys and left. The victim then called for police help, police said.
Further police investigation revealed that the suspect used the victim's credit card at the CVS store located at 12209 Veirs Mill Road.
The suspect is described as a 5-10" black male, weighing approximately 200 pounds, and wearing a black Northface windbreaker with a hood, dark blue jeans, and a skull cap.
