CHAPTICO, Md. (WUSA) -- St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office authorities say they charged a Temple Hills man with theft and driving while suspended after he was caught with a highway road sign in his truck.

According to authorities, on Saturday the the St. Mary's County Emergency Communications Center broadcast a lookout for a suspicious vehicle, described as a blue Ford F-150 with Virginia Registration. They say the driver was seen at Budds Creek Road and Rocky Ridge Road in Chaptico putting a Maryland State Highway road sign into the bed of the truck.

A deputy later saw and stopped the truck. After consulting with the Maryland State Highway Administration, authorities found that 45-year-old Scott Oliver Henson did not have permission to remove the sign.

Henson was arrested for theft and driving while suspended.
