Steffen Zachary Monger Charged After Woman's Reported Drug Overdose, Heroin And Syringes Recovered

CALIFORNIA, Md. (WUSA) -- A 22-year-old man was charged after a deputy responded to a home in California, Md. for a reported drug overdose and spotted a man trying to conceal items "on his person," say St. Mary's County Sheriff's authorities.

According to authorities, the deputy saw the man as he tried to assist an unconscious female. When other deputies responded, they detained Steffen Zachary Monger. 

Later, detectives executed a search and seizure warrant and, according to authorities, recovered heroin, scales, packaging material and "loaded" syringes. 

Monger was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of heroin, say authorities. Additional charges are pending.
