Man gets over 3 years for carjacking, chase in DC

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A man who led DC police on a high speed car chase after a carjacking in DC was sentenced for more than 3 years in prison.

Correy Markel Janifer, 21, was sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by supervised release for being a felon in possession of a gun and interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

Janifer led police on a chase while traveling more than 90 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone on Route 450 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

He was apprehended after losing control of the vehicle and fleeing the scene, police say. Janifer had stolen the car from its owner at gunpoint.
