Woman crashes car into Md. police cruiser, flees scene

BELTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Columbia woman has been arrested after she crashed her car into a police cruiser and then fled the scene late Tuesday night, Maryland State police said. 

Police arrested Carol Reed, 43 of Columbia who crashed her Chevy Cruise into a police cruiser around 11 p.m. Tuesday night in the Beltsville area. 

According to authorities the crash happened on northbound IS-95 at Rt. 200 ICC when a trooper was handling a crash on the right shoulder. All of the cars involved were parked on the right side of the road in a construction area. 

The Maryland transportation officer was sitting in the driver's seat of his marked Chevy Caprice patrol car when the Chevy Cruise hit him. Reed then fled the scene. 

Police were able to find Reed driving north on IS-95 and did a traffic stop. She was arrested for suspected impaired driving.
