UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The warrant/ fugitive division arrested a woman for theft over $100,000 on Thursday.
The Sheriff's Office for Prince George's County said Shamika Stagg's arrest warrant for theft was received by the county police on January 2, 2014.
The warrant shows that Staggs obtained a falsified property deed and illegally rented a vacant town home located in the 10000 block of Keepsake Court in Upper Marlboro.
Staggs went on to sell the home to an investment group and got more than $195,000 from selling the property, according to the warrant.
Warrant and fugitive deputies started searching for Staggs when they received her warrant and found her on February 3. The sheriff's office said she was found at a home in the 15000 block of Kennett Square Way in Brandywine, Maryland.
She was taken into custody and is now at the Prince George's County Department of Corrections, according to the sheriff's offices.
Besides theft, Staggs was also charged with issuance of a false document, false entry in a public record, and forgery of private instruments and documents, the county sheriff's office said.
In addition, Staggs had an outstanding 2010 warrant for fraud conversion that was issued by the Prince George's County District Court, the sheriff's office said.
