Wizards watch party at Verizon Center

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Folks came to the Verizon Center to watch the Wizards game even when the team was not playing in DC.

On Wednesday night, the Wizards may have been in Indiana, but at times, it felt like a home game at the Verizon Center. Once you stepped into the concourse, there were long food and beverage lines, games for the kids, the wizards dance team. It looked like a packed house.

Dominick Jenkins drove from Maryland with his son. He says, "This is better than sitting at home, I mean even though I got 72 inches but this right here, shoot."

At the Verizon Center, he has a 25 foot screen to watch the game on.

At a Wizards watch party all the seats are free. And you can sit anywhere you want, even the bench.

For game 2 in Indianapolis tonight, we saw them listed on stubhub for less than $10, for a playoff game. That is a fraction of what home playoff games have gone for at the Verizon Center.

"We're being robbed. But that's kind of ridiculous. For it to be $10 in Indiana and hundreds of dollars here. It's the same game, isn't it?," says one resident.

Fans admit, it could be because the Wizards are, for the first time in years, a draw.

"They're back. I guess people are probably willing to pay hundreds of dollars to see them now. Yeah, we're starving man," says one fan.

But, at least for one night, fans do not have to worry about ticket prices. For one night, tickets are on the house.

"This is beautiful, this is wonderful. They should do this more often," says one fan.
