Va. woman leaves baby in stroller in the road during argument

WOODBRIDGE, VA (WUSA9) - A woman has been arrested in Woodbridge for leaving a 9-month-old baby girl in her stroller in the middle of the road.

Police said the incident happened Tuesday evening at the 2700 block of Potomac Mill Circle around 6:30 p.m. The suspect, 19-year-old Luz Anabel Fernandez, of Arlington was arguing with an acquaintance, a 28-year-old man from Alexandria. 

Police said the altercation escalated and Fernandez left the baby in the stroller while she chased the victim. The accused then bit and assaulted the man. Officers arrived on scene and detained Fernandez. 

The child was not hurt and has been released into the custody of another family member. Fernandez has been arrested and charged with felony child neglect and domestic assault and battery.
