Va. woman assaulted while walking home; police investigate

WASHINGTON (WUSA) - Loudoun County police are investigating a reported attempted sexual assault in Sterling, Va.

The incident happened in the Alberta Terrence and Edwards Terrence area around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said a female victim was walking home when an unknown male started following her. He attempted to talk to her and later walked in front of the victim, pushing her to the ground.

There was a struggle and the victim punched the man police said. She was able to flee without being physically injured during the assault, returning home before alerting authorities.

Officials said the suspect is described as "dark-skinned," and possibly Hispanic. He was wearing a dark shirt and pants.
