Va. man charged in hit and run that killed 13-year-old girl

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police have charged a Va. man with manslaughter and DUI in a hit and run accident that killed a 13-year-old girl Sunday morning in Woodbridge, Va.

Prince William County Police said, the driver of a 2010 Nissan Sentra, Chaldron Brown, 32 of Woodbridge, Va. was traveling westbound on Old Bridge Rd when he did not stop at a red light.

Police said the vehicle hit a 1998 Ford Explorer at the intersection. The Ford was making a left at a green light from Touchstone Circle onto Old Bridge Road.

According to authorities, a 13-year-old boy and girl were unrestrained in the backseat of the Ford. Both of the children had to be ejected from the Ford, authorities said.

Everybody inside of the Ford was taken to the hospital, including the driver and the 19-year-old passenger, police said.

Authorities said the 13-year-old girl in the backseat of the Ford, Antoinette Peters of Alexandria, Va., died on Monday. The other victims are suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Brown fled the scene after the crash. He was found close by, police said.

Brown is being charged with manslaughter, DUI related, felony hit and run, driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, and unreasonable refusal.

The driver of the Ford has been identified as a 46-year-old woman from Woodbridge, and the passenger, a 19-year-old man from Woodbridge. The 13-year-old boy in the backseat of the Ford is also from Woodbridge.
