Va. man arrested for shooting victim in leg

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested an 18-year-old for shooting a victim in the leg in Dumfries on Sunday early morning.

Prince William County Police said the 18-year-old Aboubaker Bamba turned himself in Tuesday without incident. Bamba was wanted in connection to a shooting that happened in the 3600 block of Steward Ln in Dumfries on Sunday.

Police said they received a call about a shooting at 1:06 a.m. The victim, a 17-year-old man of Tappahannock said he had been confronted by a group of men at a home.

During this incident, police said Bamba shot the victim in the leg. The incident then escalated and turned into a dispute between two groups, according to police.

The man was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Bamba was charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

He is being held without bond.
