WOODBRIDGE, VA (WUSA9) - A three-month-old baby named Zion LeBron Favors has been found safe and unharmed after he went missing following a domestic incident in Prince William County, police said.
At around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, detectives arrived to the 15100 block of Cardin Place in Woodbridge after receiving information about the possible whereabouts of Russell Carnell Walker.
Police located Walker at a townhome with baby Zion, and arrested him without incident.
A source told WUSA9 that Walker was the 22-year-old mother's boyfriend.
“The baby looked good. The baby is good and healthy and everything. He’s a strong baby,” said a neighbor and witness who didn't want to be identified.
“Walker told me he did it because the mom was an unfit mother that's why he did it,” the witness said. “He said he knew he was wrong and he would take the baby back and I said, ‘yeah that would be the best thing to do.’”
The baby's abduction stunned people who live nearby.
“You hear about all sorts of things like this where the child is never heard from again, so I’m glad this didn't end up like that,” one neighbor said.
The domestic incident that lead to the abduction occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to the Motel 6 on Dumfries Road to find the victim, a 22-year-old woman from New Mexico. She told police that she had been involved in an altercation with Walker on Friday. During that incident, the woman was assaulted and sustained minor injuries.
Walker is charged with abduction and domestic assault and battery.
Prince William County Police said the case is still under investigation.
