Silver Line ridership impressive during first week

WASHINGTON (WUSA9)--Ridership on Metro's new Silver Line is off to a great start. Tuesday WMATA released ridership numbers during the first week of Silver Line service (12 noon on Saturday, July 26 through 12 noon Sunday, August 3).

According to the transit authority on average, almost 16,000 passengers boarded the line during the weekday at one of the five new stations last week. Metro's goal is to have this number up to 25,000 passenger boardings after one year of service.

The station seeing the most foot traffic is the Wiehle-Reston East stop.
