Police: VA man scammed elderly woman

HOWARD COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Virginia man has been arrested for scamming an elderly woman.

Jamie Alexander Fisher, 34, of Winchester Va. was apprehended on Friday, officials report.

According to authorities, Fisher and another man went to the home of an elderly woman in Elicott City on May 21st and began spraying a substance on her lawn.

When the woman asked the men to stop Fisher told her that her husband had signed a contract back in 2010, but that Fisher could not produce it.

According to officials, Fisher told the victim that he was at her home to continue the service and that she would need to pay. Fisher informed the woman that she could 'buy out' of the contract for $6,000 and the woman wrote him a check for part of the money, officials say.

Officials say the victim reported that Fisher returned to her home on June 18th and demanded the remaining payment. The victim provided Fisher with the money and contacted the police two days later.
