Police: Impersonator tried to pull over drivers on I-66

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Virginia man has been arrested for possession of marijuana and impersonating a police officer after trying to pull over cars on I-66.

Serif Hussam Ahmad, age 23, impersonated a police officer by equipping his car with flashing blue and red lights and attempting to pull drivers over on I-66 in the area of Route 15, according to Virginia State Police.

At about 10:47 Friday a citizen reported that a white Chevrolet Impala with flashing blue and red lights in its grill trying to pull vehicles over, police said. The caller was ale to provide license plate information.

Further investigation led authorities to the Ahmad's residence, according to police. The Chevrolet Impala was located two blocks away with its lights on and engine running, police said.

Ahmad was inside the vehicle asleep.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana, and blue and red strobe lights embedded in the grill of the car.

Ahmad was taken into custody without incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
