Pilot killed, passenger injured in Va. plane crash

TOPPING, Va. (AP) - State and federal authorities are investigating a single-engine plane crash in Middlesex County that killed the pilot and injured a passenger.

Virginia State Police identified the pilot as 58-year-old Stephen L. Myers of Christiansburg.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya tells media outlets that the 1968 Cessna 150 crashed shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday in Topping.

Anaya says a passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The passenger wasn't identified.

State police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
