Community comes together to support two little girls after mom dies in crash

Samantha Tran Richards' loved ones said that she lit up a room - and made people laugh.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA (WUSA9) - Samantha Tran Richards' loved ones said that she lit up a room - and made people laugh.

Her ex-boyfriend, Lucas Nash, said that there is a void now that she is gone. They dated for over two years up until a few days before Richards was killed in car crash in Fairfax County.

Nash was the last person to see her.

On November 29th, the night of the accident, Nash was moving his things out of the house. He said Richards was very upset and stormed out. Getting into her car and driving off in the middle of the night.

"She was distracted and distraught and they say that the accident happened close to the home," explained Nash. "She came over the median and there was a collision with another vehicle."

She died this past weekend after almost three weeks of being in a medically induced coma and several surgeries.

Just week away from Christmas, Daughters Everly and Natalie are left without a mother.

A GoFundMe is set up under Richard's name. The money will help with bills and give the girls some Holiday gifts.

"We want to try and make sure that the girls don't have a rougher Christmas than they're already going to," said Nash.

Those who would like to drop off gifts for the girls can also drop off gifts at the restaurant where their mom worked - the Maggiano's in Springfield Town Center.
