Authorities identify body found in James River

JAMESTOWN, Va. (AP) - Authorities have identified a body that was found in the James River near the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry.

Laurie Naismith with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission tells media outlets that the body of Kenneth Leary of Lanex was identified through fingerprints.

Naismith says a jet skier found Leary's body Sunday evening.

The body was found in an area where a boater disappeared. Authorities haven't said whether Leary was the missing boater.

Surry County Sheriff Alvin Clayton has said a boat was found Sunday morning near Chippokes Plantation State Park. A woman found floating in the water was taken to a hospital.

A man's wallet and a cell phone were found on the boat.
