100-year-old man dies in Va. car crash

(WUSA9) -- A 100-year-old man died in a car crash in Albemarle County, Va. last week, say police.

According to Albemarle County police officials, Robert Hayes of Earlysville was a passenger in a car involved in a collision on April 16th in the 2400 block of Old Ivy Road. He died two days later at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

According to police, the Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Old Ivy Road when the driver attempted to turn left on to Crestwood Drive. The driver failed to yield for a Saab convertible that was traveling westbound and the cars hit head-on.

The drivers of the Honda Civic and the Saab convertible were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, say police.

The crash is under investigation.
