1 dead, 8 injured in Va. Beach car crash

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WUSA9) -- A road has reopened after a fatal crash that also injured eight people in Virginia Beach.

Sandbridge Road reopened at approximately 2:15 a.m. Thursday, reports WVEC. The crash happened in the 500 block at approximately 6:56 p.m. Wednesday.

One person died in the crash.

Five patients under age 16 were taken to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, according to hospital staff. One person was sent to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. Sentara Princess Anne Hospital treated three adult patients and one of those patients was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, reports WVEC.
