Verify: Can North Carolina drivers hit protesters?

WUSA9 verified whether several stories are real or not. Adam Longo called it a salute to the ridiculous.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - QUESTION:

Did the North Carolina House pass a bill letting people drive into protesters?

ANSWER:

We can verify this is mostly true, but drivers aren’t covered to just mow through a crowd of protesters.

SOURCE:

North Carolina House Bill 330

PROCESS:

North Carolina House Bill 330 says if someone is part of a protest that’s blocking a public street, drivers can’t be sued if protesters get hurt while carefully driving through the demonstration. The law says you’re clear as long as you are “exercising due care.”
