Verify: Did members of Congress not stand for Pledge of Allegiance?

QUESTION:

Did members of Congress not stand and recite the Pledge of Alliance?

ANSWER:

We can verify this is false.

PROCESS:

An email is being sent around saying "If they won't stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance, in my opinion, they have no place in our Congress.

There's also a tweet being shared that purports to show members of Congress who are refusing to stand while the Pledge of Allegiance is being recited.

The only problem is if you look at the names and look at the room, it isn't Congress.

The video was shot in 2009 during the same protest where this photo was taken, but it isn't congress. It's the New York state Senate.
