DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Dumfries man who resisted being arrested and struck a police officer in the face on Sunday was arrested and charged.
A Prince William County police officer saw David Kapay Kallo driving recklessly in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Allen Dent Road Sunday evening.
The officer tried to stop the car but the Kallo started crossing multiple lanes of traffic on Jefferson Davis Hwy, according to police.
The driver drove to the Princeton Woods apartments, where he got out and ran in the direction of the Periscope Pl. area, police said.
When officers tried to detain Kallo, he struck one of the officers in the face with his elbow, police added. Kallo then ran away into a nearby wooded area.
Police said, a police K-9 officer tracked the man and found him in the 3300 block of Vineland Pl. in Woodbrige, where he was hiding inside a closet in the home.
Police arrested him at that location.
The officer who was struck was treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening injury, according to police.
Kallo has been charged with assault and battery on a LEO, eluding, resisting arrest and driving while suspended, police said.
His court date has been schedule for March 12, 2014. His is being held without bond, police said.
